Our chickens are pasture raised outside, free to roam and forage. We frequently move our chickens between grasses in a process known as managed grazing.
With managed grazing, we’re able to use animal by-products for compost, which not only eliminates overgrazing but also greatly increases the amount of rich organic matter that fertilizes our soil. This further enhances soil health and allows us to operate as a carbon-negative farm (which means we use more carbon than we put out).
We incorporate high diversity plant species into our till to ensure a diverse feed source for our livestock and soil biology. We never use any herbicides or pesticides in the feed we give to our livestock.
